Compiling music from the first 2 series of the hit Sky Atlantic TV show,
Fortitude, Ben Frost has brought his chilling soundtrack for the show to a
commercial release. Press (Guardian) Frosts fears were allayed by a treatment
sent him by the shows creator, Simon Donald. His fascination with the
strangeness of the natural world and how it informed the writing resonated with
me. I was cautiously excited. Dovetailing with the on-screen intrigue, Frosts
work is by turns urgent, unsettling and alarming. I was probably subconsciously
trying to get out of it when I said it should be built around choral music, but
nobody asked me to leave the meeting, he says.
