Currently active in the New York metropolitan area jazz scene, flutist Mark
Weinstein performs with chamber jazz ensembles in styles that include
Post-Bebop, Afro-Carribean, Brazilian, North Indian and Klezmer. Mark calls upon
the finest jazz and world musicians including guitarists Romero Lubambo, Jean
Paul Bourelly, Vic Juris,Ed Cherry, Richard Boukas and Brad Shepik; pianist Omer
Sosa; vibraphonist Brian Carrott, bassists Mike Richmond, Santi Debriano and
Carlitos La Puerta; percussionists, Cyro Baptista, Cindy Blackman, Jamie Haddad,
Cecil Brooks III, John Santos and Francisco Aguabella. As a trombonist Mark
worked with Chick Corea, Cal Tjader, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, Herbie Mann,
Maynard Ferguson, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, Lionel Hampton, Clark Terry, Larry
Harlow, Louis Ramirez, Charlie Palmieri and the La Playa Sextet. He has played
at Birdland, Village Vanguard, Knitting Factory, Trumpets, Priory, Fat Tuesdays,
Cleopatra's Needle, Village Gate, Seventh Avenue South, Half Note, Five Spot in
the New York City area and clubs and colleges in Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago,
Los Angeles, Atlantic City, Santa Cruz, CA and throughout the tri-state area.
Played in the jazz workshops and rehearsal bands of Charlie Mingus, Joe
Henderson, Clark Terry, Barry Harris, Chuck Isreal, Duke Pearson, Kenny Durham,
Marshall Brown and Fred Lipsius.
