 Willy DeVille made his name fronting US new wave band Willy DeVille (best
known for their 1977 UK Top 20 hit Spanish Stroll) between 1975-1986.
DeVille was always most popular in Europe and often recorded there. He also
wrote material with legendary US songsmith Doc Pomus (of Pomus and Shuman fame)
taking inspiration from classic R&B songs.
This release combines the Rockpalast shows in 1995 and 2008, with DeVille on top
form on both sets. The 1995 show, in Bonns Biskuithalle, featured him on slide
guitar and mixes current solo work and past highlights.
The 2008 show at Bonns Museumsplatz features songs from his final album Pistola,
about which the New Musical Express said, DeVilles louche fusion of rocknroll,
Tex-Mex and country styles has matured with age, and his most recent work is
among the finest of his recording career.
