Aly Keïta, a virtuoso of the Balafon, was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. From
his youngest age, he was introduced to the instrument by his father, himself a
Balafon player, the musical ancestor of the Xylophone and the Marimba.
Aly Keïta has just been nominated for the German Jazz Award 2022.
Today, Aly Keïta lives in Berlin and connects musical worlds with impressive
virtuosity. He wanders between spectacular African rhythm, polyphony and jazz
elements, and combines them to create a wonderful and unique sound world
– two magical hands and a thousand and one strokes.
“I want my music to be alive and full of energy, hope and love, music that
I can share with the audience and through which the audience and I can share our
joy.”

Les lames du balafon Ouest-Africain croisent celles du vibraphone

bouge à l’Est… L’interculturalité a du bon, voyez
plutôt ! Un des balafonistes les plus en vue du Mali, Aly Keita, reconnu pour
ses capacités à dépasser le carcan de la musique griotique mandingue,
un tout jeune vibraphoniste jazz, installé en Suisse, Lucas Dorado, issu lui
aussi d’une lignée de musiciens reconnus et un « juge de paix »
Argentin, touche à tout de génie, Minino Garay, métronome de cet
attelage confraternel. Ces trois alchimistes reviennent au fondamentaux.
Transformer l’air, l’eau, le bois, et l’acier, y mettre le
feu, transformer des vibrations en or sonore ! Jazz andin balafoné ? Musique
contemporaine des Alpages ? Célébration bachique bambara ? METAMADERA,
premier de cordée, ouvre un passage dans notre Nord-Ouest ! Minino, Aly et
Lucas brossent un tableau aventureux, consistant et festif du jazz pluriel du
XXIe siècle. Vraie rencontre transcontinentale, METAMADERA ouvre de nouvelles
perspectives en ces temps agités pour les oiseaux migrateurs.
