This eponymous disc has more of a hard edge to it, than his first solo effort. , however, comes across as trying too hard to fit into what his record company was trying to promote and the results are more forced as a result. While both "Like a River" and "The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of" are good tunes, the rest are more by rote than by inspiration. Thusly, "" is the lesser of his solo discs released in the '80s. In the '90s, he would reunite with former bandmate from Great Buildings, Phil Sorem, and hit it mighty big in the Rembrandts. This disc, along with his first, is what he was using to lead up to that success
