National Heritage Award winner Ola Belle Reed grew up in the mountains of Ashe County, North Carolina, near neighboring Galax, Virginia. Its an area extremely rich in producing the finest of old-time musicians, and she was among the best. She was also a fine songwriter with a catalog of over 200 songs, including High on a Mountain and The Leading Role.
