Tracks list

The Hank in the title refers to Hank Cochran, not Hank Williams, because Jeannie
Seely recorded as many of Hank Cochrans songs as Connie Smith did of Bill
Andersons. The album leads off with the hit A Wanderin Man before covering a
number of Cochrans songs that were hits for other artists, such as Burl Ives A
Little Bitty Tear and A Funny Way of Laughin. Side two bogs down a little with
ballads, but closes with the ever-popular Make the World Go Away. The
Pennsylvania-born Seely helped set the pattern for contemporary country artists
since she looked like a model and had a very pop-oriented voice, but today she
seems like Kitty Wells compared to some of the pure pop that has since passed
for country. Thanks, Hank! was later reissued by Harmony, Columbias budget
label, with the title Make the World Go Away. ~ Greg Adams
