Calvin and company come out of the gate with the wheels smoking. The lyrics on
the first tune are really cool and quite humorous. The song has a jazzy feel to
it with its rather complex phrasings, but the blues roots are still in the base
of the structure on the tune. This music is strongly rooted in the Blues genre
but its seasoned with hints from other genres (when it sounds right). That is
the true genius behind Calvin Owens and his music, he has the gift of creating
great arrangements that captivate the listener. The melody lines are charismatic
and theyre impossible to get out of your head, while the musicians on this album
are of the highest caliber.
