and dancer. She was born in Brooklyn, New York. She had recorded and performed
extensively, both independently, and with other jazz notables, including Artie
Shaw, Teddy Wilson, Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington, Charlie Barnet, Benny
Carter, and Billy Eckstine.
