though Ikes one of the greats of soul music, he has, with the exception of Theme
from Shaft, never really had any hits. Rather, Ikes a typical album artist. The
limited-size format of a single is simply too small for the someone who makes
music that is XL, hence this double-disc collection. The ambition of the label
was for all the songs to be in their original length, but despite this
collection being over 140 minutes in playing time, a few shortened single
version inevitably had to included. The material comes comes from Ikes long
tenure at Stax, his most successful and creative period. Highlights include,
