More thought goes into album covers than some listeners might want to give artists credit for. These are not impromptu photos snapped with smartphones at a bar. The cover for In This World: To Feel features saxophonist Myron Walden garbed and posed, it seems, to evoke serenity. Serenity is a go-to word -- albeit a bit overused -- to describe this album, the first of a two-part release on Waldens Demi Sound Records (In This World: What We Share is the second release). The normally robust drummers Kendrick Scott (frequent collaborator) and Brian Blade (Walden leader for years) are reserved throughout the album, drumming in purposed undertones. Meanwhile, David Bryant (Fender Rhodes) and Mike Moreno (guitar) lend the bulk of the albums ambience. On both tenor and soprano, Waldens sax is lyrical and reflective. Its a departure from Waldens previously aggressive tunes, but a welcome addition to his quickly ballooning catalog. Tracks: 1. When All Is Said And Done 2. Giving 3. Settling Calmness 4. In This World 5. Lonesome Dwellings 6. The Fall Of Summer 7. Inner Peace 8. As She Sleeps 9. Hope 10. I Believe 11.
