Née à Québec en 1992, Safia Nolin démontre un intérêt
marqué pour la musique dès son très jeune âge: à deux ans, elle
improvise déjà des concerts unplugged avec sa petite guitare en plastique
autour de la piscine de son immeuble, au grand bonheur de son voisinage.

À 17 ans, désirant réaliser son rêve de devenir musicienne, Safia
entreprend lapprentissage de la guitare de façon autodidacte lorsque son
grand frère lui en offre une usagée. Inspirée par son environnement
immédiat, la société et la nature humaine, elle écrit des textes
reflétant son vécu. Inspirantes et authentiques, ses paroles touchent et
nous transposent dans son univers. Ses influences vont du folk rock à lindie
rock.

En 2012, elle crée sa première composition originale, Igloo, inspirée
du quartier de Québec où elle habite, Limoilou. Lors de son passage à
la 44ième édition du Festival International de la Chanson de Granby, Safia
remporte le Prix SOCAN de la chanson primée pour cette chanson. Suite à
Granby, Safia a l’opportunité d’enregistrer ses chansons en
studio avec Philippe Brault, Rick Haworth, José Major, Audrey-Michèle
Simard et Guido Del Fabbro.

Signée chez Bonsound en gérance, disques et spectacles en 2013, Safia
Nolin a depuis fait plusieurs spectacles au Québec: les FrancoFolies de
Montréal, le Festival dété de Québec, Coup de coeur francophone, des
premières parties de Groenland et une participation au concert Beck Song
Reader, présenté par Sofar Sounds dans le cadre de M pour Montréal. Son
premier album paraîtra à la fin de lété 2015 via Bonsound.

Born in Quebec City in 1992, Safia Nolin showed an interest for music at a very
young age: at two, she improvised unplugged concerts with her small plastic
guitar around her buildings pool to her neighbours’ delight.

At 17, wanting to achieve her dream of becoming a musician, Safia started
learning how to play guitar on her own with a used one offered by her big
brother. Inspired by her surroundings, society and human nature, she writes
lyrics that reflect her personal experience and real life. Authentic and
inspiring, her words touch us and carry us into her universe. Her influences
range from folk rock to indie rock.

In 2012, she concocted her first original song, Igloo, inspired by her
neighbourhood, Limoilou, for which Safia won the SOCAN Best Song Award during
her participation at the 44th edition of the Festival International de la
Chanson de Granby. Following her stay in Granby, Safia had the opportunity to
record these tracks in studio with Philippe Brault, Rick Haworth, José Major,
Audrey-Michèle Simard and Guido Del Fabbro.

After joining Bonsounds management, booking and label rosters in 2013, Safia
Nolin toured a lot in Quebec, performing at the FrancoFolies de Montréal, the
Festival dété de Québec, Coup de coeur francophone, the Beck Song
Reader show hosted by Sofar Sounds during M for Montreal, as well as opening for
Groenland on many dates. Her debut album will be released at the end of the
summer 2015 via Bonsound.
