Stephen Warbeck is one of the best-known film composers working in Britain
today. His many credits include Shakespeare in Love (Miramax), for which he won
the ‘Best Original Score’ Oscar; Captain Corelli’s Mandolin
(Working Title/Universal), Billy Elliott (Tiger Aspect/Working Title), The Other
Man (Rainmark Films), Quills (Industry Entertainment/Fox Searchlight), Mrs Brown
(Ecosse Films/Miramax) and My Son the Fanatic (BBC/Zephyr Films/Miramax).

 Stephens most recent scores include Hampstead, for Ecosse Films, starring
Brendan Gleeson and Diane Keaton and road comedy The Time Of Our Lives. Other
recent film credits include Mon Roi (Les Productions des Trésor), Keeping
Rosy (Air Productions/Redemption Films) and Seve (Renaissance Films).

Stephen began studying piano and composing at the age of four, and by his
mid-teens he had developed an affinity for rock n roll as well as for theatre.
His television credits include the first five series of Lynda La Plante’s
Prime Suspect, for which he received a BAFTA nomination and he has recently
scored The Dresser, starring Ian McKellen and Anthony Hopkins, for the BBC and
both series of Channel 4’s prestigious primetime drama Indian Summers. He
has also written music for numerous theatre productions including Wolf
Hall/Bring up the Bodies (RSC), The Tempest (Globe), This House (National) and
productions at the Almeida and the Royal Court. Stephen is a founder member of
The Kippers, with which he still regularly performs.
