Pianist, composer, arranger and conductor, among the most important ones in the
history of European jazz, Enrico Intra has developed a poetics aiming at the
encounter between the most exquisitely jazz language and contemporary music of a
cultured matrix, and for this reason he was among the first Italian musicians to
develop a “European†concept of jazz. Nuova Civiltà suite,
certainly one of his best-known compositions, often also interpreted by Gerry
Mulligan, deeply combines blues and tradition, adhering to the most radical
trends of the music scene.
