       Après avoir parcouru inlassablement les quatre coins de la planète,
le Belmondo Quintet a posé ses bagages le temps d’un concert magique.
C’était sur l’ile de la Réunion, en octobre 2008. Ce
pourrait être il y a 20 ans. Ou dans 10 ans. De ce concert se dégagent une
énergie colossale et une symbiose unique, comme il en arrive parfois avec des
formations mythiques, qui font de ce disque un chef d’œuvre
intemporel. On pense au quartet de John Coltrane bien sûr, au second quintet
de Miles Davis naturellement, aux divers opus précédents des Belmondo, qui
ont marqué à jamais la planète jazz, croisant le fer avec le géant
Yusef Lateef ou réinventant la musique française du XXe siècle. Enfin
un ‘live’ gravé dans le marbre par les Belmondo, dans lequel
Lionel et Stéphane livrent une interprétation totalement habitée des
quatre mouvements de leur fameuse suite « Infinity », et une version
sublime de « Naima » en guise de bonus.

After tirelessly traveling at the four corners of the planet, the Belmondo
Quintet has put down its luggage for a magical concert. It was on the Reunion
Island, in the Indian Ocean, in October 2008. It could have been 20 years ago.
Or in 10 years. From this concert emerge a colossal energy and a unique
symbiosis, as sometimes happens with mythical formations, which make this record
a timeless masterpiece. It reminds us of the quartet of John Coltrane of course,
of the second quintet of Miles Davis as well, of the various previous opus of
the Belmondos, which marked forever the jazz world, crossing swords with the
giant Yusef Lateef or reinventing the French music of the 20th century. Finally
a "live" recording set in stone by the Belmondos, in which Lionel and
Stéphane deliver a totally inhabited interpretation of the four movements of
their famous "Infinity" suite, and a sublime version of Coltrane’s
"Naima" as a bonus.
