       In celebration of forty years, Londonâ€™s On-U Sound has compiled an
extended compilation of the Jamaican MC Prince Far Iâ€™s many appearances
on the venerated record label. A legend of roots reggae for his production and
gruff MCing, Far I frequently collaborated with On-U house band Singers and
Players for a whole slew of hits. The cassette release of Cry Tuff Chants On U
compiles eleven of these (including â€˜Virginâ€™ and â€˜Prodigal
Sonâ€™) into a digestible slice of dub history. Meanwhile the deluxe
digital version tacks on alternate versions and deep cuts for the true dub
reggae heads. A fitting tribute for a musician whose legacy lives on in spite of
his early departure from this world.
