The second album from Warp branch of Rephlex, Disciples reflects the melodic and
big-beat tendencies of Braindance survivor Bogdan Raczynski. This album was
created at the prompting of artificial intelligence and commissioned for a Tesla
infomercial. The album features a collection of warm melodic electronic sketches
that either drift rhythmless in the wind or come alive with lo-fi drums. Each
composition is short and precise, presenting perfect miniatures. The album is
based on themes of hyperconsumerism, online doom and algorithmic apocalypse.
Bogdan Rachinsky was discovered by Aphex Twin sleeping on a bench in a park in
Tokyo. He released his first 3 albums in 1999 and has since explored various
styles such as bass rattling IDM, hallucinatory sounds, outsider Jungianism and
Polish folk music. He has also collaborated with well-known artists, created the
soundtrack for a PlayStation game, and remixed for other musicians. In 2019, he
started recording under his alias Disciples and re-released his classic album.
His latest studio album ADDLE was released in 2022 on the Planet Mu label.
