The story of MÃœNTER & KANDINSKY is a powerful tale of a dramatic love
and a testament to groundbreaking art. It portrays the relationship between
Gabriele Münter, once Wassily Kandinsky’s student and later his
partner. Together, they pushed artistic boundaries, though their relationship
grew increasingly complex. While Kandinsky gained fame and recognition during
his lifetime, Münter, as a woman and artist, was often overshadowed by him.
Today, however, she is celebrated as one of the most important painters of
classical modernism.
The film, the first of its kind, offers a detailed look at their shared years,
their role in founding the Blue Rider art movement, and the vibrant bohemian
scene of early 20th-century Schwabing.
Martin Stock is one of Germany's most sought-after composers, with works in an
astounding range of styles: He collaborates just as successfully with Oscar
winner Caroline Link as with multiple Echo winner Bushido – teaming up
with the latter for two golden records.
