best and most diverse installments in the series, despite its material emerging
in 1975 during the decline of Addis Ababa's musical golden age under a military
regime. The compilation features rare, trance-heavy tracks by the acclaimed
singer Mahmoud Ahmed, alongside exceptional James Brown-style heavy funk by
Alemayehu Eshete backed by Middle Eastern horns. Additionally, tracks by Hirut
Beqele showcase Jamaican ska influences, making this volume an ideal starting
point for exploring the series.
